What I Wish Someone Told Me at 65

November 14, 20251 min read

When I turned 65, I thought it was all about picking the right Medicare plan.

And while that’s important… it’s only part of the story.

No one told me about the other stuff Medicare doesn’t cover — like what happens if you need help getting around the house after surgery… or a few weeks of care while you recover from an illness.

That’s where short-term care insurance comes in.

It’s not long-term care — the kind that costs thousands a month and covers years in a facility.
This is more like a safety net. A little extra help when Medicare steps back and says:

“That’s not our thing.”

Most people I talk to have never even heard of it.
But it can protect your retirement.
It can protect your savings.
And most importantly — it can protect your peace of mind.

I wish someone had told me this sooner… so now I’m telling you.

If you’re curious what short-term care covers — or whether it makes sense for your situation — send me a message or drop a comment that says “Care” and I’ll send you a quick explainer..
